Date: 2013-07-23 07:18 pm (UTC)I'm currently living in Wisconsin, US with my husband and two children (ages 9 and 18 months). My husband is originally from Ireland and I spent over two years of my life living there with our family. I still miss it every day.
Most of my journal posts are about my family- trips, struggles, accomplishments, etc. Recently I have been posting a lot about trying to start my weight loss journey and the struggles that go along with having binge eating disorder.
Some posts are light, some are deep, but in the end I write about whatever it is I feel I need to vent about.
I love reading about other peoples' lives and commenting. LJ has provided me with a lot of awesome connections in the past!

Date: 2013-07-26 07:39 pm (UTC)i think jobs are bad all over. my husband is in pre-press/graphic design(has a ba hons in american history and politics from uea) and is at the top of the pay scale here, but there are jobs for him there. our kids are registered in the uk, we did that after they were born so they have a choice, and we have been married long enough that i can go over easily(i am too disabled to do work out of the house but can take in some film photo retouching jobs which are much more plentiful there) so we would just have to deal with moving animals, house, all of that. we'd love to go back, but we just decided to buy our dream house here. *sigh*

Date: 2013-07-26 08:00 pm (UTC)My husband worked construction while living in Ireland and that industry completely tanked. There's no way we could have stayed in 2011. I have my masters but Ireland has a completely ridiculous law regarding background checks so my ability to find work would be challenging at best. In a nutshell, in order to work with 'vulnerable populations' in Ireland, you need to have lived there for FIVE YEARS before they can do a complete background check so you can work with said individuals. um... I work in human services so I would have to essentially live in Ireland for 5 years before I could even apply for a job in my field. I called the guarda about it and everything. I wouldn't be able to handle doing completely unsatisfying work for 5 years of my life if we moved back.
I miss it every day... but with few job prospects and a low income, we would not be able to do handle it :(
