Punky's FRIENDZY FRIENDING FRENZY!!!

Hello everyone. We all know how a friendzy works.

Reply with a comment telling us all about yourself and what you look for in LJ friends and post a link to this friendzy on your own journal. Spread the word!

I will leave this entry public until August 22, 2013.

I will comment with my own info!

Hi! I've seen you around on mutual friends journals and actually wanted to ask if you'd like to be friends for quite some time already. So - deal??? ;-)

Hi! I've seen you around ... we have mutual friends. And shared interests ... So would you like to give it a try?

I'm late to the party.. I hope people still check this!

25, female, Ohio.

I'm starting a masters/PhD (it's complicated) in Urban Design & Behavior (city planning) in the fall here at OSU. Just graduated in May with an undergrad in city planning as well. I'm a single mom of a 3.5 year old as well. I am a big nerd and a Whovian/Trekkie geek, and I love to travel (I'm a couchsurfer!)and volunteer (currently training to be a college bound mentor for a teenager in children's services protection, and I'm on the committee for the fancy Diabetes' arts fundraising gala in november) and go to civic and social events. I'm very much an extrovert but i am queen grump if i don't get my alone time to regroup as well.

I'm currently on a quest to become more traditionally elegant/feminine. Now i'm VERY MUCH a liberal feminist in every sense of the word, so It's an interesting journey to explore what can be seen as a traditional womanhood-- without any of the sexism or religiousity attached. Mostly I'm studying things about etiquette, posture, style, manners, art of conversation, accomplishments and otherwise being a well rounded, well educated, graceful and elegant chick. I have always been a big history nerd and I've always really admired the accomplished and elegant women I would read about. It's essentially the exact opposite of who i used to be (and still am in most respects), but I've always wanted to feel more "feminine" (my definition, as everyone has their own and that's ok!) but didn't know how, growing up with a very tomboy single mother. I'm starting a blog about the whole process too.

So, yeah. My LJ is day to day stuff mostly. My live-in but temporary "boyfriend" (though technically without a title), my son, my divorce-in-progress, my work as an RA, school, my "elegance studies" and whatever else is happening.

For LJ friends I'm looking for people who like to interact, and who have mostly positive blogs that talk about more than ailments and bad things that are going on in their lives. Everyone has that stuff sometimes, but I'm not looking to add any more blogs that are *only* where people only talk about their problems.

Deal. :)

[identity profile] lyssa027.livejournal.com 2013-07-28 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure :) We used to D&D all the time, but our DM was sort of an ass and loved killing us off, and then he broke up with his girlfriend, and the campaign sort of went to crap, but we're hoping to start it up again :)

Hello. I'm Jeff, 31, and I live in the Chicago area. I've been on LJ for almost 10 years. I post a few times per week on average. My posts tend to include different observations about myself and my life, and sometimes about current events. I'll also include thoughts on movies and TV shows I've watched, though I usually keep my mentions to a few times per movie/show. (For example, I won't give weekly thoughts on a TV show, but I might say something once or twice per season.)

Like a lot of people, I'm trying to figure out certain things in my life. After being in a stable job for a few years, I'm currently not working, so it has given me time to think about my habits and tendencies. As one of my friends said about me, I'm "on a journey" (though don't expect anything too profound). I don't talk about this too much, and I don't feel bad about not being employed, but I might occasionally have thoughts related to it that I share.

I like LJ friends who have something interesting to say. I like reading different perspectives on my friends page. One thing I like about LJ is that I can get to know people from around the world who I'd otherwise never get to meet. Or even people who live near me whose paths would never cross mine. I read everything my LJ friends post. I won't comment on every entry you post, but I will if I have something to say.

One of my main interests is music. I like to listen to and explore as much music as I can, so I try to listen to a lot of different kinds. Most of what I listen to probably falls into the alternative/indie rock category, though I also listen to country, classical, opera, jazz, classic rock, and more. This year, I'm really liking the new albums by Kacey Musgraves and Mikal Cronin.

I don't see that many movies at a theater, but I like to watch things that look interesting. I'm currently working my way through the list of the winners of the Oscar for Best Picture. I've skipped a few here and there, but I'm currently up to the '70s. I'd like to explore more, but I don't have the same sense of urgency with movies that I do with music.

When it comes to TV, I like to think that I don't watch that much, but I do. I have a lot of shows I'm catching up on, like Damages, Dexter, Fringe, The Good Wife, Breaking Bad, and a few more. I've been a fan of some of the Thursday night NBC comedies - 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, The Office - but also like some hour-long dramas, like Elementary, Downton Abbey, Nikita, Arrow, Nashville, and Revenge. I don't do much with reality TV, but I started watching Big Brother last year.

That's probably enough about me. :) Most, if not all, of my posts are friend-only, so it's fine if you want us to add each other on a "trial" basis (i.e., if you find that you don't like my posts, that's cool, no hard feelings). Otherwise, if you're interested, I look forward to getting to know you.

That sounds so nice! I've always wanted to own a little bookstore. But working in a library is great. Not many people nowadays have a passion for books.

And I'm glad you all liked it! I've only just started it with my boyfriend, but so far we're loving it :) Definitely adding you as well.
